CRT Driver Kit Update

10:54 pm Uncategorized

It’s been quite some time since I last posted about this. The project has been on the back burner for some time now since I’ve just been so busy with other things. It’s actually pretty far along the process but the cost of the parts is just too high, and the kit has quite a few parts.

I’ve been revisiting the design again to see if I can make it easier to build and less costly.

A question: Would you consider a version without a DAC? Instead of having an 8-bit digital interface (Arduino compatible), it would have analog X and Y inputs and a video/blanking input.

    Hi,

Yes that would be perfectly fine!
The hard thing for at least a guy like me is the high voltage-part to drive the tubes.

    Looking forward to it!!
    All the best, jonas

What are you trying to do on this project? I’m new to the Arduino (haven’t done a project on it yet) so I’ve been looking at something that could drive a CRT myself.

Below are two source of being able to interface with a CRT but not for what I’m interested in. I’d like to know if you could video signals from a DVD player or something and have the Arduino convert the signals and display them on your CRT.

So far I’ve come across some work a dude from Japan did that looks promising:

I’ve also found http://microvga.com/ which also works with Arduino.

If you figure something out please send me an email I’d like to hear about it.

Jason, you can convert NTSC to deflection signals using the circuit from this post.

Hi there, I was looking around for resources on putting together a small waveform monitor based on a tiny crt when I say a guy on youtube using your board.
I was wondering if you can share the schematics of that … I don’t really need anything else than the analog part, as I will be providing the horizontal, vertical and blanking signals myself.

Please let me know if that board is something you sell or anything like that.

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Marcelo.

Marcelo, that’s not a bad idea, I’m planning to leave out the DAC to make the kit easier to assemble.

    Hi Eric,

Is there a kit still available?
    How can I get one?

    Thanks,
    Marcelo.

Marcelo, I’ve been busy with other things. I’m still thinking about it, so perhaps someday!

Way to go, Eric! Great job. Let me know how to get mine! Rich
